Biofeedback

SEE WHATS HAPPENING ON THE INSIDE

Biofeedback appeals to people for a number of reasons:

1. It's non-invasive (doesn't hurt)

2. It may reduce or eliminate the need for medication

3. It might enhance the benefits of medication

4. It might help women who can't take medication during pregnancy

5. It helps you feel more in control of your mental and physical health

how does it work?

A SENSOR CONNECTED TO YOUR EAR LOBE

Biofeedback is a technique you can use to learn how to control some of your body's functions, such as your heart rate. During your appointment, a sensor is connected to your ear lobe that helps you and your Clinician to receive information about what is happening in your body.

This feedback helps you make subtle changes in your body such as relaxing certain muscles, to achieve the results you want such as pain management. HeartMath biofeedback allows us to view the information your heart is sending your brain, and teach you interventions to manage your mental and/or physical health. You will practice those changes during your appointment and be able to see the changes happening on the inside of your body as well!

In essence, biofeedback gives you the ability to practice new ways to control your body.

More about HeartMath Biofeedback

25+ Years of Research Went Into HeartMath Biofeedback

Alberta Health Services has been using HeartMath Biofeedback since 2015 in select programs. Unfortunately, this service is not widely available to the public.

This technology offers an innovative approach to improving emotional well-being. In these sessions, you will learn to change your heart rhythm pattern to create physiological coherence, which is a scientifically measured state characterized by increased order and harmony in your mind, emotions and body (heartmath.com).

Heart signals sent to the brain have a significant impact on brain function. Heartmath research has demonstrated that different patterns of heart activity (which follow different emotional states) have distinct effects of cognitive and emotional functioning. Special attention is paid to your Heart Rate Variability (HRV). One of the most powerful factors that affect our hearts changing rhythms is our feelings and emotions. In your appointment, you will get to see real time information and learn different interventions to achieve physiological coherence and improve your emotional and physical well-being.
